Our Approach
Children follow their genuine questions. Educators guide rather than direct, nurturing intrinsic motivation and ownership over learning.
Small groups mean every child is truly known — their strengths, struggles, and the things that make them light up.
Ottawa's seasons, green spaces, and community become part of the curriculum. Learning happens beyond four walls.
Literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking are woven into authentic projects — deep skills built through meaningful work.
About Ember
A microschool is a small, flexible learning environment — typically fewer than 20 children — that blends the best of progressive education with strong academic foundations. Think of it as a one-room schoolhouse reimagined for the 21st century.
Ember is currently in the planning phase. We are a small group of Ottawa-area educators and families who believe children deserve something better than one-size-fits-all schooling. We're building something warm, thoughtful, and rooted in this community.
Limited Spots
We're gathering a founding family cohort. Leave your email and we'll reach out as details come together.
